Plarn Workshop: How to Crochet Using Plastic
Plarn (yarn made from plastic bags) is an eco-friendly technique that is gaining popularity among the fibre arts and craft community in the wake of climate change. The practice transforms plastic bags into functional and sustainable art, such as dish scrubbers, baskets, hats, and even shoes, reducing the amount of waste and plastic pollution that ends up in our landfills and oceans every day.
Local fibre artist and ecofeminist Sarah Moreau will teach you how to repurpose your unwanted plastic bags through the art of crochet. The first part of the workshop will provide step-by-step instructions on how to create plarn. Afterwards, you will be taught how to crochet a reusable tote bag using your newly made ball of plarn.
