Rainbow Punch Needle or Rug Hooking Pattern
This is a digital download for the design templates and instructions for our Rainbow Punch Needle project. Included in this PDF are the four traceable rainbow designs. Print these templates on A4 paper (standard 8x10 copy paper) for circular designs that measure 19cm / 7.5" in diameter. Also included are instructions for tracing, punching and finishing your rainbow pieces. Rug hookers can also use these templates! A video link is provided for help with the framing. Instructions for using a punch needle or rug hook are not included. If you are a beginner and need some help with this - check out Amy Oxford's wonderful instructional videos. Rug Hookers can follow Deanne Fitzpatrick's beginner video.
To make your Rainbow you will need:
Monk's cloth, six colours of yarn - we used Wee Woolen Wonders in zest, solei, panden leaf, scuba, radiant orchid and natural, Amy Oxford Punch Needle (we used a Fine #10 but any size is ok), a punch needle frame to fit a 8" design (we used a Morgan No Slip Hoop), a tapestry needle for finishing and an embroidery hoop for framing (optional).
You can find a kit for the Rainbow Punch Needle project HERE.
For the month of June 2021 we will be donating all the profits from the sale of our Rainbow Punch Needle Patterns to Friends of Ruby, an organization in Toronto that supports LGBTQI2S youth.
