Colourful Crochet Inspired by Maud Lewis

Grace Tompkins from Graceshandmades captured our hearts with her sweet, crocheted interpretations of Maud Lewis's paintings. We are delighted that she has agreed to teach Knit Cafe students her colourful approach to crochet!

In this 2-part class explore intarsia crochet methods for adding pictorial elements to your crochet pieces and learn to work creatively with surface crochet and stitching embellishments.

Students will work through these fun challenges stitching a small version of Maud Lewis's "Three Black Cats". Post-class hang your little masterpiece on a wall, use it as a coaster or trivet, add it to a garment as a pocket or use it as a warm up to make one of Graceshandmades' Maud Lewis inspired sweaters. In class you will receive a copy of the Three Black Cats Sweater pattern and students will have an opportunity to ask questions about this project.

2 sessions, some materials included. 

Materials: The class fee includes all the yarn you will need and a copy of the Three Black Cats Crochet Sweater pattern by Grace Handmade.  Please bring (or purchase in store) 4.5-5mm crochet hook and a darning needle.

Level: Intermediate. Students should be confident crocheters and know fundamental stitches - chaining, single, double, half-double crochet. 

Cancelation Policy: No refunds are provided for students who cancel their class registrations. A store credit or exchange of the date of the class can be given if you provide 3 days notice prior to the first session of your class. Notifications made within 3 days of the start date are not eligible for a store credit or exchange. Exceptions may be made for students who miss classes due to COVID-symptoms - please get in touch.
