Introduction to Drop Spindle Spinning

In this class you’ll learn the fundamental skills needed to be able to spin your own yarn. Using a drop spindle is one of the oldest techniques for making yarn, and it is a perfect thing to take on the go. Learn how to prepare your fibre for spinning, and how to set up your spindle properly. Next, you will learn the basics of spinning yarn and controlling your spindle and fibre as you go. In the second class, you will learn to ply and finish your yarn, so it is ready to use!

2 sessions, materials not included

Materials: 100g of corriedale wool roving and a drop spindle available for purchase at The Knit Cafe. Also bring 2 toilet paper rolls or old straight knitting needles.

Level: No experience necessary

A store credit or exchange of the date of the class can be given if you provide 3 days notice prior to the first session of your class.
