Introduction to Weaving - Plaid!

Explore the possibilities of plaid designs in this three week class. Students will learn how to weave on a Rigid Heddle Loom, as they design and weave their own plaid scarf with four colours of their choosing. Learn how to calculate warp and weft and prepare a loom for weaving a plain weave fabric. Practice your weaving while trouble shooting common issues and once your masterpiece is complete, choose from a variety of finishing techniques.

A Rigid Heddle Loom being compact and inexpensive, is a very user friendly and accessible gateway into the wonderful world of weaving. Students who wish to purchase Rigid Heddle Looms may do so at a discount. Yay!

3 session course, materials not included

Materials: four colours DK/Worsted weight yarn, 870-1200yards total. We suggest Brooklyn Tweed Arbor! Weaving yarns need certain qualities please consult with The Knit Café when choosing yarns. Come to class a little early to pick colours!
