Meara Mill Yarn

This yarn is made in small batches with a PEI Mini Mill that was transported to Ireland to the Olann dye studio, and thus Olann Mills was born. Drawing on their wealth of experience as hand dyers, Olann Mills set a course to create subtle, colour blends and complex hues. Each colour of the Meara Mill Yarn is made up of several, carefully considered, hand dyed colours of wools that are fused together in the milling process. It beckons you to come closer and examine the intricacies and nuance. The pallet is inspired by the surrounding Irish countryside and heritage.

The fibre is a sustainably sourced, 100% fine merino, that has not been treated to be superwash and therefore retains all the beautiful properties of the soft, buttery fibre. It feels strong and supple as it runs through your fingers with minute variations in texture. This makes the yarn extra special as you can see the makers hand, not only in the colour but in the spun fibre. Your knitted, crocheted and woven pieces will embody the rustic drape that results from the small milling process and the elegant feel of the fine merino fibre.

The Knit Cafe is one of only three shops in Canada to offer this yarn to our customers. We are pretty excited about that!

This fingering weight yarn will make very special, keepsake garments, for grown-ups or little ones. A shawl or a scarf would come be divine!
