The old fashion textile craft of needlepoint is having a resurgence. Much like rug hooking, punch needle and embroidery any design or picture can be adapted into a needlepoint project. Needlepoint has a lovely smooth finish, and is sturdy enough for upholstery or can be made into bags, coasters, or some sweet wall art! In this introductory class students will learn how to transfer a simple design onto a needlepoint canvas, how to select materials and read needlepoint charts, and how to produce needlepoint stitches with good tension and a clean finish. In this workshop three different needlepoint stitches will be introduced: the common tent stitch, the durable basketweave stitch, and the decorative bargello stitch.
