Tapestry Weaving Frames
A basic frame loom is one of the best ways to introduce oneself to the art of weaving. These frames, made from silver beech hardwood, are described as simple and effective. It other words, they are very accessible first looms, that is super easy to use.
These looms come in two sizes and can be used to make projects such as cushion covers, placemats, wall hangings, bags and more. The looms come broken down into 4 pieces that are much easier than any Ikea product to assemble. Basic weaving instructions accompany each loom.
Along with your loom, get yourself some warping thread in good strong cotton, and a needle or two to use while weaving your design. These wooden ones were designed just for this task, or the Aluminum Needles in the darning needle section of this shop do the job too.
Pretty much any yarn can be used in a tapestry weaving project. The larger the yarn the quicker it will fill in your design. Unspun wool (also called roving or fleece) is also fun to include in a weaving project. You can find some HERE.
