Late Bloomer Mitten Online Course

This is a pre-recorded online class with pattern designer Kristin Ledgett to learn to make the Late Bloomer Mittens. Since its publication in Making Magazine in 2020 we have been so pleased to see all the love that this mitten pattern has garnered. It is a very special mitten pattern that employs several textile crafts; knitting, embroidery, and sewing.
If you join this class you will receive over 3 hours of step by step video lessons along with support materials and a copy of the Late Bloomer Mitten Pattern. These lessons include:

• selecting materials and combining colours for the Late Bloomer Mittens
• choosing a size
  
• reading the Late Bloomer knitting pattern including an introduction to charted pattern reading for knitters
• how to make a "knot stitch" without getting holes
• basic mitten construction - including that finicky thumb!
  
• embroidery on a knitted mitten
• drafting a sewing pattern for a mitten liner
• sewing and attaching mitten liners to finish your mittens. 

Materials: There is great information in the class about sizing and materials - you may want to watch those lessons before you choose your supplies.
Sizes: Palm Circumference: 18.5 (20.5 20.5)cm Length: 25.5 (26.5 28)cm. Suggested ease with lining: positive 2.5-5cm, without lining positive 6mm-2.5cm
Yarn: 1 (2, 2) skeins Lichen and Lace Rustic Heather and 1 (1, 1) skein Lichen and Lace Marsh Mohair 
Needles: 3.5mm and 4mm double pointed or long circular needles for magic loop.

Level: Intermediate. Students should be confident in working in circles either on double pointed needles or with the magic loop method. They should have experience reading knitting patterns and be comfortable fixing their mistakes.
