Oxford Punch Needles
A punch needle is a type of rug hooking tool and Amy Oxford makes the best of em! Amy Oxford herself is an avid rug hooker and she was frustrated by the punch needles that were available for her to use. So she did what all super-creative, innovative types do - she made one herself. Amy Oxford's tool has a beautiful, maple wood handle that fits nicely in the hand and is made for comfortable, long-time use. It has an electropolished, surgical steel needle that slides easily through foundation fabrics. It is produced entirely in the USA and comes with a lifetime guarantee.
A punch needle differs from a Tradition Rug Hooking Tool because it feeds the yarn through the needle as you work and also the tool controls the height of the pile. For this reason Oxford Punch Needles come in many sizes. Once you get hooked you will want a few so you can diversify the textures in your punch needle works of art.
First Choose Your Size:
Regular - which works with bulky yarns, and 6.35mm / 1/4 inch cut strips
Fine - which works with worsted weight yarns and 2.4mm / 3/32 inch cut strips
Then Choose Your Pile Height:
#8 - 12.7mm / 1/2 inch tall pile
#9 - 9.5mm / 3/8 inch tall pile
#10 - 6.35mm / 1/4 inch tall pile
#13 Mini (only available in Fine) - 4.75mm / 3/16 inch pile
#14 Mini (only available in Fine) - 3mm / 1/8 inch pile
Then Choose Boxed or Unboxed?
You can get your Punch Needle in a sturdy box with a how-to booklet by Amy Oxford that will give you all the information you need to get you on your way to Punch Needle proficiency. It also comes with a handy stitch gauge to help with tension.
Or you can get your needle "unboxed" with no booklet, or gauge - just the needle.
