Visible Mending Class
COVID-19 Protocol: It is a priority for us to keep our community safe and healthy. All participants in Knit Cafe classes must wear masks in the shop for the duration of the class. When you register for a class you are agreeing to do so. Thanks for working with us on this!
A handmade sweater is a treasure, representing the hard work and also the love of it's maker. Let's preserve these treasures as long as possible. In this class we will learn two visible mending techniques - "Woven Darning", and "Swiss Darning". Both are durable, needlework techniques for fixing holes in knitwear. They can be applied to handknits as well as machine knit items, not just sweaters but mittens, scarves, toys, and other cozy items. You do not need any knitting experience to acquire this mending skill. We are so pleased to be welcoming instructor Robbie Laughlin to share his mending expertise with Knit Cafe students.
The Knit Café will provide knit swatches for students to use while practicing the technique. To ensure The Knit Cafe remains a moth-free environment students should not bring in knitwear to be mended. Participants are welcome to bring in photographs to ask the instructor about specific mending issues.
